how do i get push notifications working?

Hi Guys, What steps do i need to take to get push notifications working? I have downloaded and installed the certificate on my macbook, push notifications are enabled for development. I have copied the kitchensink example over to my device and ran it but just get an error:

Error during registration: Error Domain-NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=3000 " no valid pas-environment entitlement string found in application UserInfo=0x38f940

Im eventually hoping to be able to send unique messages via push to the app from my website, if thats possible?
